John "Bear" Johnson, of Chattanooga, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May, 22 at the age of 60.

Born in Pensacola, Fl., John spent the past 35 years in Chattanooga working in radio. John programmed many stations and different formats as well as serving as production manager. On the air, John could be heard on Jet 94 as Dr. Jay, on Rock 105 as Rockin' John Thomas and on Magic 102 as John Sinclair. In addition to being one of Chattanooga's most recognizable voices on radio, John could be heard on hundreds of television commercials.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Grace and J.B. Johnson.

John is survived by his daughter, Isabella Johnson, sister, Janie Wahunt and husband, Jimmy, sister, Cheryl Jones, husband, Don,  niece, Regina Durham, and nephew, William Matt Litteken.

A private ceremony will be held for family members and a celebration of John's life for friends and family will take place in June, time and location to be announced.
