Not only is an all Chattanooga final in Thursday's Division II-AA state but it is another Baylor-McCallie match up. The two rival schools will meet in the state title match on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. CST on the stadium field at Richard Siegel Soccer Complex in Murfreesboro.
BAYLOR 4 MUS 0 - Baylor's Dee Appleberry opened the scoring in the 14th minute in Wednesday's semifinal win. Baylor took a 2-0 lead in the 28th minute when Eemeli Makela scored.
Baylor opened the second half with an early goal by Makela and Appleberry gave the Red Raiders a comfertable 4-0 lead in the 49th minute.
Baylor keepers Herny Hooks and Mats Pokela combined for the shutout in the goal.
MCCALLIE 2 CHRISTIAN BROTHERS 1 It took 100 minutes to decide the winner in McCallie's semifinal game. McCallie trailed 1-0 after Mark Zimmerman scored off a corner kick for Christian Brothers.
McCallie tied the match when Thomas Priest scored on a free kick. Neither team would score again until late in the first overtime when William Hart off an assist from Andre Roberts.
"You have to give Christian Brothers alot of credit," McCallie head coach Chris Cushenberry said after the game. "They earned that goal off a set piece and made a great play. They made it hard for us to do some things that we wanted to do, but I am proud of our guys for battling. Our motto is "overwhelm them with brotherhood" and that is what I love about this team. We played a lot of guys tonight. It was great to see different guys step up."
McCallie will be looking for revenge of its 2-0 loss to Baylor in the regular season.
