Josephine K. Starks was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on November 14, 1934. She died peacefully on Monday, May 21, 2018.
 
Josephine was the third of nine children born to the late LaGrant and Gladys Wheeler Starks and was preceded in death by three siblings and one son, Thomas Starks. She attended Howard High School and was formerly employed by Ebony Cleaners. 
 
Josephine was a member of Prospect Missionary Baptist Church where she was a member of the Usher Board and food pantry ministry until her health declined. 
 
Josephine will be fondly remembered by her siblings, Doris (Jack) Suddeath, Faithie McDaniel, J.B. Starks and Lex Starks, all of Chattanooga, and Clyde (Thelma) Starks of Pensacola, Fl.; dear cousins, Loretta Hill, Marion Davis, Gwendolyn Heard, and Patricia Blackwell of Chattanooga; family friend, Saundra Adams.
 
The body will lie in state at Prospect Missionary Baptist Church beginning at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 24, immediately followed by the funeral service at noon with Reverend Dr. Jay Trimble officiating.
 
Interment will be in Highland Memorial Gardens.
