County school officials are asking EPB to partner in the new Future Ready Institutes.
The utility was asked to make a $250,000 commitment over four years and work closely with Tyner Academy students.
There are 20 Future Ready Institutes at 13 different campuses planned with a launch this year in the ninth grade, Supt. Bryan Johnson said.
He said school officials want to make vocational training more real world relevant and work closely with Unum, EPB and others.
Some EPB employees would be going to the Tyner campus and students would be visiting EPB offices.
Dr. Johnson said students at Tyner now in the ninth grade would be put on track to become EPB employees once they graduate.
Some student internships would also be involved.
