WTCI-PBS To Air Encore Broadcast Of The A List With Alison Lebovitz

Featuring Schoolhouse Rock Legend Rob Dorough

  • Wednesday, April 25, 2018

Bob Dorough (1923-2018) was a jazz pianist, singer, composer, songwriter, arranger and producer but he is best known for his role in the Schoolhouse Rock! series.  Chattanooga has enjoyed a relationship with Mr. Dorough and WTCI, the region’s community PBS station, will honor his life in an encore broadcast of an episode of “The A List with Alison Lebovitz” that features him. On-air audiences can tune in to WTCI on Thursday at 8:30 p.m., Sunday at 10 a.m. and Tuesday at 11 p.m. Online audiences can stream the episode at www.pbs.org/video/bob-dorough-gsk6rt.

Guests at WTCI’s annual Family Day celebration got a treat in 2012 when Mr. Dorough brought his enthusiasm for learning to the day and Chattanooga audiences at Riverbend, JJ’s Bohemia, Normal Park Museum Magnet School’s annual festival all enjoyed both jazz and the familiar notes of such treasures as “Three is a Magic Number,” “I’m Just a Bill.” Mr. Dorough enjoyed his visits to the Scenic City, his partnerships with Chattanooga organizations like WTCI-PBS and the Shaking Ray Levi Society and audiences will learn more about his career in the encore broadcast of this engaging interview with Alison Lebovitz.

“The A List with Alison Lebovitz” will enter its 10th season this fall and the station will celebrate the milestone with a live pledge event featuring Ms. Lebovitz and special guests. Audiences will have opportunities to enjoy clips of episodes from throughout the season’s decade-long run and hear from Ms. Lebovitz about some of the behind-the-scenes from these exciting episodes.

Paul Grove, president and CEO of WTCI, said, “We were thrilled to have the legendary Bob Dorough as a part of our Family Day experience and honored that we are able to celebrate his life through this encore broadcast of one of my favorite programs. 'The A List' has been introducing our community to fascinating people here and beyond for nine wonderful years and I can’t wait to see what the tenth season brings.”
