The Salvation Army of Greater Chattanooga invites the community to join them in the following events to honor Holy Week:
The Cleveland Salvation Army will host “Journey to the Cross - A Passion Week Revival” at their location at 437 Inman St. West. All are welcome to attend. Monday, Gerald Riggs, former NFL running back will speak at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Major Robert Lyle, area commander, will speak at 7 p.m. Wednesday’s special guests will be the Voices of Lee at 7 p.m. Thursday will be an Interactive Maundy Thursday Service at 6 p.m.
and Friday there will be Interactive Prayer Stations from 6-9 p.m.
An Egg-stravaganza will take place Saturday, March 31 at The Salvation Army East Lake Center, 2140 East 28th St. from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Egg hunting, crafting and refreshments will be provided. “Hop” the movie will be featured for the children, as well. For more information, call 423-698-4484.
A Spring Festival will also be held on Saturday, March 31 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m at The Salvation Army, 1019 North Moore Road. There will be music, food, an Easter Egg Hunt and fun for all ages. For more information, call 423-756-1023.
The Salvation Army will celebrate Easter with its traditional Easter Sunrise Service at the National Cemetery, 1200 Bailey Ave., beside the flag pole overlooking downtown Chattanooga. For the last 41 years, The Salvation Army has partnered with the National Cemetery for the Easter Sunrise Service. All are invited to worship at 7:28 a.m. as the sun rises over Chattanooga.
Music will be provided by the internationally acclaimed Jericho Brass Band. The guest speaker, Salvation Army Area Commander Major Robert Lyle, will deliver the message.
The Salvation Army is expecting an attendance of more than 300. "Come celebrate Easter with The Salvation Army at the Sunrise Service," officials said.
