Mary Catherine Hight, age 84, of Dalton, Georgia, went to her heavenly home, Wednesday, March 21, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.

Catherine was born Feb. 22, 1934 in Dalton, Georgia, the only daughter of the late James Arthur and Opal Jane Parker Wells.  She was also preceded in death by the true love of her life, her husband of 65 years, Donald Franklin Hight, Sr., and they affectionately called each other “Kid”; a daughter, Cathy Donna Standridge; her brother, Trammell Wells; and sons-in-law, Bob Townsend and Richard Newby. 

Catherine was a 1952 graduate of Dalton High. She was proud member of the Catamount Marching Band. Catherine was a retired bus driver with the Whitfield County School System where she worked for over 30 years. She was a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church. Catherine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Catherine enjoyed life, and her smile and laughter could light up any occasion.  

Catherine is survived by son, Donald and Hazel Hight; daughters, Carol and Joel Godfrey, Cynthia Diane Hight; sister-in-law, Jeanette Pullen; son-in-law, Quintus Standridge; grandchildren, Kit and Ashley Kern, Donna and Dale Lawhorne, Angel and Floyd Officer, Stephanie Newby and Joe Carroll, Robin and Eric Jenkins, Brandi and Jason Babb, Robbie and Kristy Townsend, Casey Hight, Tyler Hight, Miranda and Beau Buckner; great- grandchildren, Coleman and Halyn Jenkins, Chase Jenkins, Chelsea and Andrew Shipman, Crimson and Wayne Agan, Brittanie and Josh Ford, Rayna and Preston Bartley, Ben Babb, Jacob and Jaiden Hight, Marley Mingle, Piper Reece Tarvin Peek, Jackson Lee, Ellis Lee,  Floyd and Christina Officer, Matthew Wingate, Ty and Tucker Townsend, Brantley and Kambria Buckner; great-great grandchildren, Landyn Agan, Axel Shipman, Lillie Ann Hufstetler and Aria Bartley; a special friend she thought of as a son, Tim Mooney; and several nieces and nephews.  

Service to celebrate the life of Catherine Hight, will be held Sunday, March 25, at 2 p.m. from Ponders Melrose Chapel, Reverend Tom Jenkins, Reverend Eric Jenkins and Reverend Dale Lawhorne officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at West Hill Cemetery with Floyd Officer, Tyler Hight, Joe Carroll, Coleman Jenkins, Chase Jenkins and Ben Babb serving as pallbearers. 

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel, Saturday, March 24, from 5-9 p.m. and after 11 a.m. Sunday until the service hour.
