Cook Arrested For Aggressive Panhandling On Gunbarrel Road

  • Tuesday, March 20, 2018

Chattanooga Police have charged Anthony Lebron Cook with aggressive panhandling on Gunbarrel Road.

Cook, 51, is also charged with public intoxication.

An officer said he responded to Panda Express on a panhandling call. Employees said they had asked Cook to leave multiple times, but he refused.

They said he kept asking for money for food.

When the officer arrived, Cook was by the cash register asking for money.

The officer said Cook was "a multiple offender of panhandling/public intoxication in the area."

He said he earlier was called to Firebirds and McAllisters to have him leave those establishments.

The officer said, "Both times the suspect attempted to evade me. This was the third and final time."

He added, "This is the final attempt to be clear to this suspect, so hopefully jail changes him."

Cook had slurred speech and was found with two open containers of Smirnoff Vodka, it was stated.

He was then taken to the county jail.
