Corker Condemns Turkish Offensive In Syria

  • Monday, March 19, 2018

Senator Bob Corker, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, on Monday released the following statement about the Turkish offensive in Afrin, Syria.

“Turkey’s capture of Afrin puts our hard-fought gains against ISIS at risk by drawing our local partners away from that fight.

“The administration should compel Turkey to stop its offensive against our partners and clearly state that no further interference in the campaign against ISIS will be tolerated.

Turkey’s actions simply contribute to the continued suffering as the world idly watches the Assad regime, Iran, and Russia inflict unspeakable tragedies on the Syrian people.”
