VIDEO: Rare Photos Of Billy Graham From The George Burnham Collection

Friday, March 16, 2018 - by Ben Cagle

There are many rare photos of evangelist Billy Graham in the collection by former Chattanooga News-Free Press staff writer George Burnham.

Mr. Burnham died in 1962 at the young age of 43, but his daughter has retained the photos and the many articles he wrote about the Graham crusades here and in Europe.

After George Burnham covered each night of the crusade at the Warner Park Fieldhouse, he was asked to join the campaign in Europe.

The collection includes a telegram from Billy Graham praising the articles by Mr. Burnham and a later one lamenting his death.

One of the photos shows Dr. Graham with members of the then-News Free Press staff.

Another shows him in the stateroom of Jimmy Stewart on an ocean liner. Spencer Tracy is among those in the photo.

The video also includes audio of an address Billy Graham made in 1991 at Baylor School.

Set Up A Council On Love, Not A Council On Hate - And Response

In Mayor Berke's April 19 version of the Berke Bulletin, he announced plans to establish a Council on Hate and indicated a focus on tolerance. I beg of him to reconsider that plan. I adore the fact so many of America’s high school and college students are very active in our battle against violence in our schools but bemoan the fact that when you combine youth and ‘lack of experience’ they often are misguided and ill-informed. The best example came on Saturday when a reporter for Campus Reform walked around the Cal State-Santa Barbara campus asking the students ... (click for more)
