Lifelong Chattanoogan Was Avid Tennessee Vols Fan

Sandra W. DeFord, 71, of Chattanooga, went to be with her Lord and Savior, on Tuesday, March 13, 2018.

She was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga and the daughter of the late Frederick V. Wood, Sr. and Dorothy King Wood. Sandra graduated from Tyner High School and was a member of Tyner United Methodist Church. She was an avid UT Vols fan and enjoyed cooking for her family. Sandra was very devoted to her family, especially her children and grandchildren. One of Sandra’s enjoyments was her “non-paying job”, which was working the front desk at the Jack & Jill Consignment Sale.

Survivors include her son, Philip (Emily) Guess and their daughter, Lucy; her daughter, Kelley (Rick) Blevins and their children, Garret and Maggie; her brother, Frederick V. (Linda) Wood, Jr. and their son, Rusty and her aunt, Mary Helen Wood.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 17, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Stuart Tilley officiating. Interment will follow in Morris Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
