Faye Carpenter, 73, of LaFayette, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 11, 2018. She was a member of Peace In The Valley Baptist Church.
Faye was a devoted church member, holding positions as a choir director and the church secretary, through the years. She was a graduate of Kirkman High where she was proud to be the valedictorian of the Class of 1962.
She was a book keeper for First Tennessee Bank for many years, and loved to roller skate and dance.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Sam and Eunice Yokley; one sister, Mary Thurston; and one brother, Jewell Yokley.
She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Rev. LaRoy Carpenter, of LaFayette; children, Junior (Jennifer) Carpenter, of Rossville, LaNette (Charlie) Vaughn, of Ringgold; seven grandchildren, J.R. Carpenter, Charlie Vaughn, Brittani Williams, Lee Carpenter, Kassie Carpenter, Nikolas Carpenter and Nikole Carpenter; five great-grandchildren, Raylan Vaughn, Eli Williams, Emmie Williams, Ellie Williams and Ava Vaughn; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 14 at noon in the LaFayette Chapel of Wilson Funeral Home, with Rev. Herschel Greeson officiating. Interment will follow in the Lafayette Memory Gardens Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 13 from 6-8 p.m. and on Wednesday up to the hour of service at the funeral home.
