Cleveland State Basketball Defeats Dyersburg State

Cleveland State's Men's basketball team had a deciding win over Dyersburg State on Friday, winning 98-55.

Leading the Cougars in this matchup was Victor Curry who scored 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Tevin Olison, Cam Copeland, and Darius Turman each had 12 points while Copeland dished 5 assists and snagged 2 steals. The Cougars shot 53% from the field and 65% from the charity stripe in a very convincing win over Dyersburg. 

This puts the Cougars record at 13-11 (9-8) and currently has them sitting 6th in the conference. They'll play their final home game of the season against Southwest TN on Saturday (2/24) and then it on to the TCCAA tournament, hosted by Chattanooga State from March 2nd-6th.

Cleveland State's Women's basketball team won a tight matchup against Dyersburg State on Friday, winning 69-68.

Leading the Lady Cougars was Abby Hubert with 23 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists. Ebony Kelley also had a strong game, scoring 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 steals. Keya Jenkins secured a double-double, scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds while also snagging 2 steals.

The Lady Cougars shot 69% from the free throw line which proved to be a deciding factor in the matchup. The score at the half was 33-35 in favor of Cleveland State, the second half was a similar score, 34 for the Lady Cougars, 35 for Dyersburg, resulting in a Cleveland State win. 

This puts the Lady Cougars record at 15-9 (10-7) with a matchup against Southwest TN on Saturday, February 24th at 4:00 PM.
