- The Covenant men's tennis team opened USA South play on Friday with a 7-2 victory at LaGrange.

Covenant (4-1, 1-0 USA South) has won three straight matches. LaGrange drops to 2-1 on the year and 0-1 in league play.

On Friday, it was a similar story to the other victories during the win streak as Covenant grabbed a lead in doubles play and then used strong play at the top of the lineup to seal the victory.

Matthew Harvie and Chris Cox each collected their 40th career dual match doubles win as they teamed up at No.
1 to defeat LaGrange's Mitchell Corley and Alan Valdez 8-2. The 40 career dual match doubles wins ties the duo with Josh Jeremiah for the program record in the category.

Logan Hull and Taylor Galloway gave the Scots a 2-1 match lead with their 8-2 at the second position over Will Thompson and Caleb Edde.

In singles play, Harvie bested Corley in a sweep, 6-0, 6-0 at the top flight, while Cox went three sets with Thompson before pulling out a 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 victory. Hull was also a three-set winner at No. 3 as he defeated Valdez 6-3, 6-7 (2), 6-2. Galloway was the third Covenant player to win in three sets when he bested Edde 7-6 (3), 4-6, 1-0 (10-7) at the No. 4 spot.

Ben Tonkel also went three sets and aided in the victory with his 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 win over Geoffrey Martin at the No. 6 spot.
