DeWayne Eual Stephens, 82, of Ringgold, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, February 22, 2018. A lifelong resident of Ringgold, he was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, where he served 52 years as a deacon and served as treasurer. He was a member of the Mt. Pisgah Men’s Quartet, and served in the Catoosa Baptist Association and on the executive committee of Georgia Baptist Convention. He retired from Combustion Engineering after 32 years of employment.
Mr. Stephens is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Birda Stephens; and first wife, Claudette Smith Stephens.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Stephens of Ringgold; daughters, Beverly (Tom) Allen, Whispering Pines, NC, Connie (Randy) Johnson of Lula, Ga.; brothers, LeBron Stephens of Smyrna, Ga., Ottis (Sue) Stephens, Wendell (Nancy) Stephens, all of Louisville, Ga.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25 at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, with Rev. Danny Henson officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 5-7 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Pisgah Senior Adult Ministry or Alzheimer’s Association for dementia research.
