Mallory Pyles Baldschun
A memorial service has been set for a Lookout Mountain, Ga., woman who was killed on Saturday morning when a truck lost its brakes near the foot of Ochs Highway.
Mallory Pyles Baldschun, 31, was in a vehicle with one of her three children going up the mountain when the truck crossed the center line.
The three-year-old daughter in the vehicle suffered minor injuries, police said.
The mother and daughter were returning from a hiking trip, it was stated.
Her sons, ages 6 and 2, were not in the car.
Ms. Baldschun went to high school at Stratford Academy in Macon, Ga., and went on to earn a degree in marketing from Georgia State University.
Her family said, "Mallory cherished being a mother to her three children and wife to Peter. She was a free spirit and felt most at peace when she was outside in nature with her family."
Survivors include her husband, Peter Baldschun; three children, Oakley, Hazel, and Everett Baldschun; parents, Bryant Pyles (Sheri Pyles) and Sandee Tebeau (Tony Tebeau); siblings, Kacee Witherbee (Sam Witherbee), Byron Pyles (LaWahna Dawn Pyles), and Thomas Pyles; grandmother, Joyce Pyles; mother and father in-law, Susan and Kent Baldschun; siblings in-law, Emily Pettit, Jane Harper (Ben Harper), and John Baldschun (Jill Baldschun); as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins.
A memorial to celebrate her life will be held for immediate family and close friends on a farm near her Lookout Mountain home.
The Pyles family will be welcoming friends and family in Macon on Sunday, Feb. 25, from 5-7 p.m. at 4892 North Mumford Road.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Lula Lake Land Trust, P.O. Box 395, Lookout Mountain, Tn. 37350.
Ralph Buckner Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
