Cachet Peterson, 21, Killed, Tiana Linares, 24, Injured, In Drive-by Shooting Early Sunday Morning On Chestnut Street

Cachet Peterson, 21, was killed and Tiana Linares, 24, was injured in a drive-by shooting on Chestnut Street early Sunday morning.

The Chattanooga Police Department responded to a shooting call at 1:27 a.m. in the 1800 block of Chestnut Street

Upon arrival, officers located the two female victims in a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds. HCEMS responded to the scene and transported both parties to a local hospital where Ms. Peterson later succumbed to her injuries.

Ms. Linares was listed in stable condition.

Patrons exiting Southside Social at the time of the incident stated to police a dark-colored vehicle was traveling southbound on Chestnut Street when a party in that vehicle fired shots into the victim's vehicle which was traveling northbound on Chestnut Street.

Southside Social management said, “In response to the shooting on the street outside Southside Social early this morning, the management is closing the establishment until further notice and will assist in any way we can during the investigation being conducted by the Chattanooga Police Department. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the families involved in this tragic situation.

Chattanooga Police Department's Violent Crimes Bureau responded to the scene to investigate the incident. Witnesses were interviewed and evidence was collected at the scene.

No suspect information is available, but members of the Violent Crimes Bureau are following all actionable leads.
