Dalton Police Seek Suspect In Smash And Grab From Car

Monday, February 12, 2018

The Dalton Police Department is asking for the public’s help to identify a man who was recorded using a credit card stolen from a smash and grab car break-in at a local gym. The suspect loaded a gift card with $500 using the stolen credit card.

The incident happened on Monday, at Peak Fitness at 1021 Riverburch Highway. The victim reported that she left her purse in her car in the parking lot around 9:30 a.m. When she returned, she found that her back passenger door window was broken out and the purse was missing. A review of surveillance video showed a black passenger car pulling up next to the victim’s parked car only minutes after she arrived at the gym. A man wearing a blue hoodie with the hood over his head was recorded getting out of the driver’s side of the black car and breaking out the window of the victim’s car. The stolen purse was a Michael Kors purse, and had the victim’s ID, a credit card, other cards and $50 cash inside.

The victim’s credit card was used a short time later at the Walgreen’s on Walnut Avenue about ten minutes after the theft. Store surveillance showed a black male wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt walk into the store at 9:44 am. He purchased a greeting card and also the gift card which he loaded with $500. The same suspect attempted to buy another gift card at the Kroger nearby minutes later, but the card was declined.

If anyone recognizes this suspect, they should contact Officer Coleman Jenkins at 706 278-9085, ext. 9207, or by email at cjenkins@cityofdalton-ga.gov

Roy Exum: The Saturday Funnies

I have to admit I am still laughing over the fact over 350 newspapers ganged up against President Trump’s stance on Thursday that the media is biased towards his administration. How in the name of common sense could any man, event, or natural phenomena cause every newspaper to unite is such a laughable ... (click for more)
