JustServe Helps Tennessee Promise Students Serve Where They Live

  • Monday, October 22, 2018

JustServe is making it possible for Tennessee Promise students to serve where they live. Tennessee Promise provides two years of tuition-free attendance at a community or technical college in Tennessee to qualifying students.  “Students may use the scholarship at any of the state’s 13 community colleges, 27 colleges of applied technology, or the eligible institution offering an associate degrees program.”

To receive the scholarship, Tennessee Promise students must also complete and submit eight (8) hours of community service per term enrolled.  JustServe helps make this happen for free.  JustServe.org is an online space where organizations and volunteers can come together to do good things for the community.  The site serves as a platform for organizations to post needs and for volunteers to search for places to serve.  In other words, JustServe links communities with volunteers, and does not discriminate based on race, religion, gender, ethnicity or sexual orientation.

JustServe is so popular that local and State governments are using it to promote service everywhere.  The platform is even being used to help those affected by Hurricane Michael and Hurricane Florence.  JustServe.org is provided as a service by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. By providing this tool that operates with no cost or obligation to the organizations or the volunteers, the Church hopes to make it easier for everyone to find opportunities to do good in their communities.

Tennessee is the first state in the nation to offer high school graduates two years of community or technical college tuition-free.  And, JustServe.org is proud to celebrate service everywhere.  Sign up at http://tnpromise.gov and https://www.justserve.org
