Ray, Mary Leona (Dalton)

Mary Leona Ray, age 87, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Regency Park Health Care.

She was born March 27, 1931 in Old Fort, Tn., a daughter of the late Elmer and Adell Brackett Richards. She was also preceded in death by her husband, R.V. Ray; brothers, Bill Richards and Letcher Richards; and sisters, Frances Hooper and Juanita Brown.

She was a member of Valley Baptist Church. 

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Beverly Crump of Dalton, Tim and Scarlet Crump of Centre, Al.; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Sid Thompson of Athens, Ga.; grandchildren, Katherine Whitick, Daniel Thompson, Heidi Ramey, Courtney Crump, Johnathan Crump, Corey Crump, Kasey Crump; great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Eli. Sydney, Tyler, Samantha; and nieces and nephews. 

A service to celebrate the life of Mary Leona Ray will be held Saturday, Oct. 20, at 1 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Charlie Hamm officiating. Entombment will follow in the Varnell Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. on Friday.
