For Esther Outside Looking In

  • Thursday, October 18, 2018

If I lived in District 30 I’d be voting for Esther Helton to be my representative. Alas, I do not.  However, if you do, I encourage to get out and vote; now, during early voting or on Nov. 6, the appointed date.

Here’s why.  Esther has the true heart of a servant which is what elected office is supposed to be about.  It’s not about becoming a celebrity.  It’s about serving the constituents of the district.  That is exactly what falls on Esther Helton’s heart.  This great lady truly wants to help.

My wife and I encountered Esther several years ago and instantly took a liking to her.  That’s what happens with most everyone who meet her, you see.  She has that warming smile, angels eyes and a rather quiet, soothing voice and mannerism that automatically puts you at ease.  She’s smart, informed and interested in the things that hold your interest.  We have forged a friendship over the past few years that we value very much.  But, that’s not all of what motivates me to write supporting Esther.

I’ve watched her in political campaign actions.  This is not a sport for the faint of heart.  Throughout a very hard-fought primary process that, unfortunately, reached epic proportions of ugliness, Esther kept her cool and just kept on working.  That is what you want to see in state government.  Someone who is focused and doesn’t get caught up in the day to day grind of political shuffling.  Rather, nose to the grindstone hammering out the issues and getting something done.

Another reason Esther Helton should receive your vote for Tennessee House of Representatives District 30 is because of her career background.  Over 30 years in the field of nursing.  Healthcare is the number one issue on the minds of Tennesseans right now not a $15 per hours minimum wage. All of our jobs and wages are soaring in Tennessee.  At my age I am very concerned with who we send to Nashville and what their view is on healthcare, particularly for senior citizens.

I could go on and on about Esther’s qualifications for the District 30 seat.  Her service to the people of East Ridge on the city council would certainly take up much more space.  But, here’s an important note.  Send someone who has real-world life and job experience.  That’s Esther Helton.  She has learned an abundance of life’s hard lessons. Esther has learned how to exude grace and dignity.

I encourage you, during this time of early voting or at the general election on Nov. 6, vote Esther Helton for Tennessee House of Representatives District 30.
