An old home on Taft Highway was damaged by fire on Monday night.

At 9:15 p.m., a neighbor called 911 reporting the heavy smell of smoke in the neighborhood. Walden’s Ridge Emergency Services responded to the area of 2806 Taft Highway for smoke investigation.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office was first on the scene and reported a fully-involved house fire at 2806 Taft Highway. Minutes later, WRES firefighters arrived on the scene and battled the fire to contain it to the one structure. WRES Deputy Chief, Jim Gault, reported the old home was being used for storage and no one was living in the home. The homeowner is unknown at this time.

The cause of the fire is undetermined and will be under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.

No injuries were reported but HCEMS was on the scene for any potential injuries to fire personnel.

Damages are unknown at this time but fire officials report the home is a total loss.
