Carr, Verl (LaFayette)

Verl Carr, 76 of LaFayette, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at his residence, with his loving family by his side. Mr. Carr was born in Flint, Mi. on June 1, 1941, a son of the late Cecil and Linnie Borgman Carr. He lived in the North Georgia area for the past 12 years and was a member of the Ridge View Baptist Church. Verl was retired from General Motors after more than 30 years of service. He loved golfing, fishing, Braves baseball and going to flea markets.

He was preceded in death by a son, Donald Carr and brothers, Gene Carr, Chuck Carr and Howard Carr.

Survivors include his loving wife, Ruby H. Carr; sons, James (Michelle) Carr of Columbia, SC, Robert Lee Short III (adopted grandson) LaFayette; daughters, Linda Caldwell, Bardstown, Ky., Teresa Carpenter, Clarkston, Mi., and Ceclin Spooner, Birch Run, Mi.; brother, Terry Lee Carr, Las Vegas, Nv.; sister, Elaine Wright, Flint, Mi.; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; several nieces and nephews also survive.

A private gathering of remembrance will be held at a later date in Michigan.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
