Hikers Alert: Trail Signage And Guidelines Need Clarity And Help

Our beloved trail system in the Tennessee valley is so beautiful.  We offer such wonderful sights to see, but the trail is certainly not very “user friendly”.  I would never feel comfortable sending my guests on a local hike knowing that some of the trails are poorly marked.

As you can see in the pictures, the current system uses a series of markings that are not only fading, but very far apart. We found ourselves wondering many times whether we were going in the right direction to Edward’s Point.  This sort of unclarity could cause someone to find themselves lost in the woods or even more frightening, injured by going off the intended path.

We need proper signage that states how far ahead the destination is so that someone can make an educated decision on whether they can tolerate the level of exercise or also that they can get the hike completed before nightfall.

Calling all volunteer groups, boy/girl scouts, church groups and all that care to make our hiking system both user friendly and safer for all to enjoy.
