James "Jim" Leonard Garner, 84, of Chattanooga passed away on Monday, Sept. 18, 2017. He was born Feb. 18, 1933 in Scottsboro, Al. Mr. Garner was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War. He later worked at and retired from Combustion Engineering after 45 years of service. Mr. Garner was an active member of the Lookout Valley Baptist Church for 61 years.
Surviving include his loving wife of 61 years Myra Garner of Chattanooga; daughter and son-in- law Jamie (Neil) Garner Koonce. of Knoxville; grandson Andrew Garner Koonce of Dallas, Tx.; grandson William Ross Koonce of Hyde Park, NY.
The family request that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lookout Valley Baptist Church Fellowship Hall Renovation Fund, 23 Lilac Ave., Chattanooga, TN 37419.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21 at the Lookout Valley Baptist Church with Pastor Troy Walliser officiating. Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. with Military Honors. Family will receive friends 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tursday at the Lookout Valley Baptist Church.
