Launch Party Set For Board Connector

  • Monday, September 18, 2017
Board Connector, a networking web platform recently developed by City Attorney Wade Hinton "has been vital in linking women and minorities to local nonprofits seeking to tap the expertise of diverse professionals to their boards." officials said.  Since its soft launch Board Connector has already connected women and minorities to Chattanooga nonprofit boards, it was stated.

“I moved to the Scenic City more than 15 years ago and most recently had the desire and capacity to become more ingrained in the Chattanooga community,” said Marcus Jones, Engineer and Senior Manager for Tennessee Valley Authority and President & CEO of Magnolia Developments.
“Since I’ve never served on a nonprofit board in Chattanooga, I really didn’t know where to start. After learning about Board Connector, I registered as a member and was immediately connected to a nonprofit seeking my expertise and seeking to diversify its board.”

To generate awareness and to connect more professionals to nonprofits aspiring to have more diverse and inclusive boards, Board Connector is hosting its official Launch Party on Friday from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Hunter Museum.  Guests will have an opportunity to network, enjoy hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar.

“The Hunter is proud to not only host the launch but also to be an active member of the Board Connector community,” said Virginia Anne Sharber, Executive Director of The Hunter Museum. “We’re committed to offering a diverse and inclusive environment for all staff and guests, and are eager to build on early successes with several advisory committees representing diverse communities around Chattanooga. We look forward to the opportunity to work with Board Connector in continuing to strengthen this key aspect of our mission.”

While there is no cost to attend Board’s Connector’s Official Launch Party; a RSVP is recommended.  Please RSVP to team@boardconnector.org by September 20.
