The Planning Commission on Monday recommended approval of a commercial development on Igou Gap Road 600 feet off Gunbarrel Road with a number of conditions.
Conditions include no grocery, commercial loans, drive thrus, or towers. The business must be one-story and operate from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Regional Planning Agency staff had recommending denial, saying the project by Kanta Chaudhari would be an intrusion into a residential section.
The proposal calls for a one-story commercial building with 5,000 square feet of space.
It would be set back from the street with parking between the street and the building.
County Commissioner Tim Boyd was opposed. He said he "could not believe" that another commercial development on Igou Gap Road near Target was approved. He said it is very difficult to get in and out of and has little parking.
He said he was stuck for 15 minutes just trying to turn right out of the commercial site.
