Dalton State women's golf coach Jim McGrew has released the Lady Roadrunners abbreviated fall schedule, which is slated to have four events including the inaugural Roadrunner Women's Invitational.

"We are excited about our fall schedule and getting back in the swing of things," said Coach McGrew.

The Lady Birds will open up on Sept.
18 and 19
in the SCAD-Atlanta Fall Invitational in Covington, Ga. The Oaks Course in Covington was good to the Roadrunners last season. There they posted a new school-record for low 36-hole score (287).

From there, the Lady Roadrunners will travel to Hattiesburg, Ms., for the Carey Collegiate Classic, hosted by SSAC foe William Carey (Miss.). "We did not play there last year," said McGrew, "but we won two years ago and we'll see a few of our conference members as well."

They will then play in another tournament they won two years ago, the Thomas University Fall Invitational at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club in Valdosta, Ga.

The crown jewel of the fall will be the inaugural Roadrunner Women's Invitational. Nob North Golf Course in Varnell will be the host. "We finish the fall with a highlight event as we host a tournament at Nob North," said McGrew.

The tournament is truely shaping up to be a highlight event in the NAIA as 11 of the Top 25 teams in the country from the final 2016 rankings having committed to play. Six of those teams were ranked inside the Top 10 at one point in the year last season.

"We are really excited about giving our fans a chance to see us play," said McGrew. He finished by saying, "It's such a great opportunity for us to show off the Dalton community and let everyone get a chance to experience women's collegiate golf."

Teams expected to compete in the Roadrunner Women's Invitational include: perennial national powers Keiser (Fla.), SCAD-Savannah and SCAD-Atlanta, as well as William Woods (Mo.), Bellevue (Neb.), William Penn (Iowa), Lindsey Wilson (Ky.), University of the Cumberlands (Ky.), SSAC member William Carey (Miss.), former SSAC member Coastal Georgia, Point (Ga.), Reinhardt (Ga.), and Southeastern (Fla.).
