The Covenant women's basketball program has announced the hiring of Katie Tingle as the full-time assistant coach for head coach Sarah Harris.

Tingle replaces Kiaira Cooper, who recently left the program for an administrative position at Houghton College.

"I am so thankful to director of athletics Tim Sceggel and head coach Sarah Harris for this opportunity to return to the athletic department and join the women's basketball program as the assistant coach," Tingle said.

Tingle has deep ties with Covenant and the women's basketball program.
A 2016 Covenant graduate with a degree in sport administration, Tingle was also a member of the women's basketball program as both a player and team manager during her time as a student. Additionally, she served on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) at Covenant and attended the NCAA Student Athlete Leadership Forum in 2015.

"After being a part of the program as a player, it is an honor to be able to come back and invest in players the same way I was invested in," Tingle added. "I am excited to assist Coach Harris as we teach, grow, and develop our players this year. I already know that we have a great group of girls, and I am ready for our season to get underway and get to work."

"Katie's involvement in our program at both the varsity and JV levels over the past five years has been instrumental in shaping the direction that we want this program to continue to take," Harris said. "She is perceptive and a naturally gifted teacher on the basketball court, passionate about pursuing success in all things, and I look forward to what she'll be able to add to our program in this new role."

Since graduating, Tingle has served as an assistant coach with the JV women's basketball team, while also working as a graduate assistant for student development at Covenant. Tingle is currently pursuing a master's degree in higher education from Geneva College.
