Lena Marie Vines Smith, 77, of Cleveland, passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at a local health care facility.  

A member of God’s House of Prayer, Mrs. Smith loved Arts and Crafts and all of her grandchildren and will be missed by all of those who knew her.

Born April 7, 1940, to the late George Clark Vines and Annie Marie Jackson Smith, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Varnell Smith; son, Ement Farnell Smith; grandson, Aaron Mathew Smith; and brother, Arnold Vines.

She is survived by children, Thelma Underwood (Bennett – deceased) of Cleveland, Glenda Cross (Eddie – deceased) of Cleveland, George Smith (Sue) of Cleveland, Rebecca Stinnett (Carl) of Benton, and Carassa Stinnett (John) of Benton; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 22, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Don Harris and Bishop John W. McCann officiating.  Interment will follow at the New Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.  A Dove Release ceremony with Bagpipes will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
