Dr. Loren Gresham will address Lee University students at the summer commencement ceremony on Saturday, July 29, at 10:30 a.m. in the Conn Center.

Dr. Gresham is the president of Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma. As he concludes his 28th year, he is the longest tenured president currently serving at any college or university in Oklahoma.

Dr. Gresham has chaired the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Council of Presidents and served on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities. He also chaired the Council of Christian Colleges and Universities Board of Directors for four years.

Additionally, Dr. Gresham has served as assistant coach and head coach of the Bethany Nazarene College men’s intercollegiate basketball team, which achieved remarkable success, including a national championship in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics in 1981.

Dr. Gresham earned his Doctor of Philosophy in political science from the University of Oklahoma, his Master of Arts in international relations from the University of Southern California, and his Bachelor of Arts from Pasadena College (now Point Loma Nazarene University).

Lee’s summer commencement is one of three graduation ceremonies held each year at the university. Over 175 undergraduates and graduates will receive degrees in the Saturday morning ceremony.

Prior to the Saturday commencement, a commissioning ceremony will be held Friday, July 28, at 6:30 p.m., also in the Conn Center. The commissioning service is a special occasion for students and their families to reflect on student experiences at the university. During the event, there are six student speakers who share brief stories about their time at Lee. Each graduate is presented with a personalized Bible in a traditional walk across the Conn Center stage.

A hooding ceremony for recipients of master’s and education specialist degrees will take place Friday, July 28, at 4:30 p.m. in the Lee University Chapel.

The hooding, commissioning, and commencement ceremonies are ticketed events. For those who wish to view the events, live streaming will be available at http://livestream.com/leeu.
