Arts In Education Grant Lets Students Learn Printmaking And Ceramics

  • Wednesday, May 24, 2017

Sara Kunnemann Rusk, the art teacher at Lake Forest Middle School in Cleveland, was awarded a $665 Allied Arts Council Cleveland/Bradley Chamber of Commerce Arts in Education Grant.  The funds from the grant went towards clay, clay tools, linoleum printmaking blocks and printmaking supplies.

This grant made it possible for seven classes made up of about 200 students to do a project that Ms. Rusk didn’t have money in her budget to afford.  This included four seventh grade classes, two advanced art eighth grade classes and a special education CDC class.

"Printmaking and clay are two of my students’ favorite projects," said Ms. Rusk.  "I notice that they get so excited about the actual project itself and are always so proud of the finished product. My students did amazing on these projects and learned so much about ceramics and printmaking.

"The past two years I was able to do projects with my students that I ordinarily wouldn’t have been able to afford thanks to the generous grants I received from the Allied Arts Council Cleveland/Bradley Chamber of Commerce."
