National EMS Week Events

  • Wednesday, May 24, 2017

Sunday marks the beginning of National EMS Week and presents an opportunity to honor the men and women who deliver pre-hospital emergency medical care throughout the United States. Since 1988, Hamilton County EMS has a history of providing timely pre-hospital 9-1-1 emergency medical response and patient care for the citizens of Hamilton County. From the field to the hospital emergency department or trauma center, they strive for seamless patient care, said officials.

Efforts at the federal level are all aimed at supporting the men and women on the front lines of the health care system—the EMTs, paramedics, dispatchers, nurses, physicians and supervisors who come together to provide the best possible care when personal, community, or national tragedy strikes.

Here are events this week in Hamilton County:

Thursday-Friday, May 25-26: HCEMS will gather for lunch and fellowship with surrounding EMS agencies at the Vulcan Materials Plant Picnic area (4700 Shallowford Road)

Saturday, May 27: HCEMS will hold their Family Fun Day at the Vulcan Materials Plant Picnic area (4700 Shallowford Road), HCEMS personnel will celebrate National EMS Week with their families. At 2 p.m. an awards ceremony will be held recognizing HCEMS personnel for their outstanding service throughout the year. Some to include: Paramedic of the Year, Runner-Up Paramedic of the Year, AEMT of the Year, Medical Call & Trauma Call of the Year and Blue Ribbon, Military and Education Awards.
