Gwenda Murphy
Gwenda L. Murphy, 56, of Chattanooga, passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2017 in a local hospital.
She was a graduate of Howard High School and attended Friendship Primitive Baptist Church for over 40 years. She was the owner of the well-known Murphy’s. Gwenda was also a member of the Seven Queens.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jarvis W. Murphy.
Survivors include her son, Cassanova (Javonna) Lee; daughter, Annie Murphy; parents, Rosie and Napoleon Murphy; father-in-law, Issac Murphy; granddaughter, Chunte’una Lee; great-granddaughter, Kaleigh Franklin; sisters, Charlotte Thompson, Sandra Gill, Henretta (Norman) Miree, and Carla (Anthony) Bentley; sister-in-law, Dolly (Ronald) Montgomery; brothers, Roger Strickland and Tyrone (LaKecha) Strickland; brother-in-law, William Clay; aunts, Mary Curtis, Leslie Foster, and Louise Belcher; god-children, Nicole, Gweniqua, Asha, Tamika, Bridget, Jessica, Tray, Betty, Vicki, Ashley, Tamala, Willie, and Dorothy Hawthorne; special friend, Johnny Phelps; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, Angela, Sharon, and Reba.

Funeral services will be on Friday, May 26, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home. Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery.
