Joyce Anita (Henson) Pelfrey passed away on Friday, April 28, surrounded by her family.

Born in Chattanooga on Sept. 5, 1938, she was raised in the Hixson area, graduating from Soddy Daisy High School in 1956 where she met the love of her life, Billy Pelfrey. Married for 60 years, Joyce and Billy raised two sons, Greg and Jeff. Joyce retired from the Hamilton County school system after many years of service, working as the school secretary at Soddy Daisy Middle. Joyce was a loving wife, mother and “Grammy”. Her greatest joy was her family. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Eugene and Jennie Henson, brother, Rev. Bob Henson, sister, Betty Bynum, and her loving husband, Billy Pelfrey.

She is survived by her sons, Greg (Michelle) Pelfrey, Jeff Pelfrey, granddaughters, Caitlyn, Jenna, and Abbi Pelfrey, and many brother and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. 

Visitation will be on Sunday, April 30, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Services will be on Monday, May 1, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Williamson & Sons Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Hamilton Memorial Gardens on Highway 153.
