Merle Hixson Green, 97, of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2017 in a local health care facility.
She enjoyed playing golf and working in her flower garden. She and her husband, Carl were active members of Big Spring United Methodist Church where they spent many enjoyable times with friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Leona Harper Sims; her first husband, Luther D. Hixson; her second husband, Carl D. Green; grandson, Rob Westphal; and eight brothers and sisters.
Merle is survived by her loving children, Terry Hixson and wife, Doris of Port Charlotte, FL, Annette Phillips of Cleveland and Steve Hixson and wife, Cathy of Cleveland; ten grandchildren, Scott (Lisa) Kyle, Chip (Mary) Phillips, Mike Phillips, Sarah (Adam) Lambert, Kim Hixson, Tina Hixson, Kelly Hixson, Rindi (Lyman) Welton, Elaine (Mark) Weiss and Liana (Stacey) Corn; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brother, Bill Sims and wife, Jimmie of Birmingham, AL; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26, in the chapel of Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home with the Reverend Terry Huffer officiating. The inurnment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.
Her family will receive friends from 11 a.m. -1 p.m. on Wednesday at the Fike-Randolph & Son Funeral Home, who has chargeof the arrangements.
The family requests that memorials be made to Big Spring United Methodist Church, 1196 Hardwick Street SE, Cleveland TN 37311.
