Fay Glenn “Rick” Bynum, Jr., of Chattanooga, passed away in a local hospital on Monday, April 24, 2017. 

Rick graduated from Hixson High School in 1967. Following graduation he enlisted in the Army, serving during the Vietnam War as a member of the 173 Airborne Brigade, and retiring as an E-8 Army master sergeant. 

He was an active member of Middle Cross Baptist Church where he loved his church family and God. Rick enjoyed hunting and fishing; and especially loved his family. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Faye G. Bynum, Sr. 

Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Bynum; sons, Chris (Carla) Bynum and Jason Bynum; step-children, Robin Dingues, Robert Mitchell, Jr., and Rachel Hockenberger; mother, Luckie Bynum; grandchildren, Erika Bynum, Alex Bynum, Sabastian Bynum, Hope and Samantha Mitchell, Jack and William Hockenberger and Madison Lee; sisters, Annette (Jacky) Miller and Janice (Dwight) Moore; as well as his close friend who was much like a brother, Ralph Pickett. 

A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Friday, April 28, at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery with full military honors. 

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 27, from 4-6 p.m., and on Friday from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
