The New Life Career Prep and Job Fair is a partnership between the City of Chattanooga, Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development, and Father to the Fatherless. The group is hosting a second job fair on April 27 & 28 to help people with past criminal records gain employment and reach their potential. Career Prep Day is Thursday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
and New Life Job Fair is Friday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. It will take place at the American Job Center in the Eastgate Town Center - Suite A5, 5600 Brainerd Rd.
The New Life Job Fair is a chance for anyone who may have a criminal past to turn their life around and create a stable career. It’s specifically for individuals with past criminal records, who are seeking employment from companies that have jobs available.
The two-day event is geared toward building participants into well-rounded and confident job candidates. The first day is a mandatory job training where participants will get help with job preparation, resumes, establishing an email account, computer assistance, and interviewing skills as well as free haircuts and professional clothing.
The City of Chattanooga and its community partners are determined to make sure the participants leave with the knowledge and skills to gain employment. On the second day, businesses that are willing to hire workers with a less than perfect past will share info about their work and meet with job applicants. After the first New Life Job Fair earlier this year, 16 participants landed full-time jobs with various employers.
