Alice Joyce Gray, 89, was born January 21, 1928, and passed away, Sunday, April 23, 2017.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother and grandfather, Alice McCurdy Goss and Robert Goss; father, John Powell; mother and step father, Dora Goss Tinker and Wiley C. Tinker; brother, Robert “Lewis” Powell and former husbands, Tolly Scott and Henry Gray.

She is survived by her daughters, Darlene Scott, Texas and Davina Scott, Alabama; sons, Robert Scott, Texas, Dwain and Darrell Scott, Trenton; five grandsons; eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and numerous cousins.

Ms. Gray was a native of Trenton, Georgia, she was a United States Air Force wife and witnessed the history of the United States Air Force in the making with her former husband, Tolly Scott, residing in different locations across the country.

Ms. Gray worked in the Trenton Post Office for 24 years until her retirement. She started as a rural route carrier in 1968 and worked as a clerk, as well as acting-post master for a number of years. She was a charter member of the Trenton VFW Ladies Auxiliary, a founding member of the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA) of Trenton, President of the American Red Cross Chapter of Trenton, former member of the original Dade County Emergency Management Team, former member of the Trenton Eastern Star, a former member of the American Legion Post #106 Ladies Auxiliary in Trenton, Georgia.

Special thanks to the Dade Health and Rehabilitation for the care and love they bestowed upon Ms. Gray. The entire staff from Facilities, Dietary, Housekeeping, Activities Department, Beautician, Speech Therapy, Physical Therapy, Certified Nursing Assistants, Nursing Staff, Physicians, Administration, Volunteers and Residents. Thank you to Hearth Hospice for their care and support.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Wednesday, April 25, in the chapel of Moore Funeral Home with officiating.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 24, from 1-8 p.m., and on Wednesday, from 11a.m.-12 p.m.
