Tennessee Tech Earns 8-0 Shutout Over UTC

After allowing six runs in the second inning, the Chattanooga Mocs softball team fell too far behind as they fell 8-0 to Tennessee Tech at home on Wednesday.
The non-conference loss drops the Mocs to 12-31 overall while Tech improved to 15-25 on the season after the win.
Chattanooga returns to the diamond tomorrow with another non-conference match-up, a 6:00 p.m. ET / 5:00 p.m. CT game on the road at Lipscomb.

After a scoreless first inning, the Golden Eagles plated six runs on four hits and were helped by two Mocs errors in the top of the second. Two of the the six runs went down as unearned.
With the 6-0 lead, TTU added a run in both the third and fourth innings to extend out to a mercy rule eight run lead. The Mocs wouldn't have any answers as they only recorded four hits while leaving six on base in the loss. Of the four hits, two of them came from the first two batters of the first, an Amy Lewis double and a Hayleigh Weissenbach infield single.
Weissenbach finished 2-for-3 at the plate while Lewis was 1-for-2 with a walk. Aly Walker picked up the other hit with a line drive single through the left side as she concluded 1-for-2.
Celie Hudson (3-6) took the loss in the circle as she tossed 5.0 innings and allowed eight hits, eight runs (six earned) while walking a career-high seven and striking out six.
