  • Thursday, March 30, 2017
The Hoops for Hope basketball tournament will be held on Saturday April 8 at 11 a.m. at the Chattanooga State gym. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children and students. Concessions will be available as well as $1 raffle tickets with the chance to win gift cards and other door prizes.

This event will be hosted by the Chattanooga State Radiation Therapy program to raise funds to support Hatch’s House of Hope, a service of the Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer. A variety of medical professionals will join the event as basketball teams including players from Erlanger Radiation Therapy, T.C Thompson E.R., Memorial Imaging, Chattanooga State Radiology, Erlanger E.R., Memorial Radiation Therapy, Parkridge Hospital, and Voytik Ortho Center.

Chattanooga State radiation therapy student  and Fundraising Coordinator Hannah Brown says is especially passionate about this event because of the impact pediatric cancer has had on her family.
As a child, Ms. Brown’s sister was diagnosed with pediatric cancer, and through this she came to understand the importance of supporting a patient’s entire family, a strategy that is key at Hatch’s House of Hope. Ms. Brown is looking forward to the basketball fundraising event and all the support that it has received.

“I’m just so thrilled with the output of participation from the community,” said Ms. Brown.

Erin Bowlen, Family Service coordinator at Hatch’s House of Hope, shared how the organization provides programs for all family members affected by childhood cancer at no cost.  Ms. Bowlen is thankful for the Chattanooga State Radiation Therapy program and their commitment to supporting this cause.

“Because of their dedication, and the generosity and support of our community, we are able to provide these services to those who need it most,” said Ms. Bowlen.
