8 Baylor Students Awarded At Youth Photography Showcase

Eight Baylor students earned awards at the 2017 Chattanooga Youth Photography Showcase sponsored by the Photographic Society of Chattanooga. 

The showcase highlights outstanding photographs from students in grades 9-12, in public, private, and home schools. The 2017 Youth Photography Showcase, the 11th in Chattanooga, brought in 1,183 images from 174 students in 13 high schools. Schools participating this year were Baylor, Boyd -Buchanan, Bradley Central High, Chattanooga Christian, Chattanooga High Center for Creative Arts, Chattanooga School for Arts and Sciences, Girls Preparatory School, Home School, Lafayette High, Marion County High, McCallie, Signal Mountain, and Silverdale Baptist Academy. 

Awards are given for digital and print work in six categories - architecture, people/animals, scapes, photojournalism, color photographer's choice, and monochrome photographer's choice. Some work is chosen to be submitted to the Photographic Society of America.

Katie Nelson, freshman - Honorable Mention, digital color photographer's choice
Kayla Runyan, senior - Second place, digital monochrome photographer's choice
Katy Smith, senior - Third place, digital people/animals; Honorable Mention, digital monochrome photographer's choice; Honorable Mention, print monochrome; Honorable Mention, print scape; two print works and one digital work sent to PSA
