Herman White
Herman Edwin White, 92, of Decatur, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, March 26, 2017, at his home with his family beside him.
He was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church. Herman was in the Meigs Masonic Lodge 213 over 50 years, VFW, and American Legion. He also served in the U. S. Army during World War II and received the Purple Heart.
He was a son of the late Benjamin and Florence Davis White. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Hoyal, Bill, R.N. White.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Margaret Louise White of Decatur, son; Jerry White (Aletha) of Decatur; daughter; Christine Plank (Willard) of Decatur; brother; Robert White of Decatur, sisters; Flossie Woodside (Robert) of Chattanooga, Ruby Kincer (Ronnie) of Ooltewah, Jewell Armour (Bruce) of Marietta, GA, 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and 1 step great grandson. There are several nieces and nephews and a host of extended family and friends.
The funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, at Walnut Grove Baptist Church, 14108 North NoPone Valley Road, Decatur, TN 37322, with the Rev. Mike Rymer officiating.
Interment will be on Thursday, March 30, at 11 a.m. at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Decatur with Ralph Jarvis, Reed O’Daniel, Chris Plank, Craig Plank, Brian White, Rodney Scott, Gary Woodside, Jeff McNeely serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 3-7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, at Walnut Grove Baptist Church.
