USA South Tennis Rookie Of The Week Is Covenant's Esther Eddy

  • Monday, March 27, 2017
Following an undefeated week in both singles and doubles play, Covenant women's tennis freshman Esther Eddy has been named the USA South Rookie of the Week, for the period ending March 26, announced the conference on Monday.

The honor is the first of Eddy's career.
The award marks a second consecutive week that a Covenant women's tennis player has garnered a weekly accolade from the USA South after Aly Hall was the player of the week on March 20.

A freshman from Jacksonville, Fla., Eddy helped Covenant to a 2-1 record last week by going 3-0 in both singles and doubles play. Eddy knocked off two USA South foes in singles play with wins over Agnes Scott and Wesleyan before taking down Kelsey McCray from Berry at No. 3 singles. In doubles play, Eddy teamed with Hall for a win over Agnes Scott and then collected two wins with Sarah Ragsdale over teams from Wesleyan and Berry.

On the year, Eddy is 9-4 overall in singles play and has won six straight matches. The nine singles victories are second-most on the team. In doubles, Eddy is 7-6 overall with playing partners Hall and Ragsdale.

Covenant (7-6, 2-0 USA South) will travel to USA South foe Piedmont on Tuesday for a 3 p.m. match.
