Lady Scots 7-2 Over Agnes Scott Tennis

The Covenant women's tennis team opened USA South play with a 7-2 victory over Agnes Scott on Friday evening at the Covenant Tennis Complex on Lookout Mountain.

The win extended Covenant's regular season conference winning streak to 11 matches dating back to last season. The Lady Scots have won four straight overall and have climbed over the .500 mark at 6-5 on the year.

Covenant had to fight through three tough matches in doubles play but won all three to take a 3-0 lead.
Aly Hall and Esther Eddy took down Taylor Lee and Lizzy Engsberg 8-4 at the top spot, while Claire Luger and Gracie Smith were 8-2 winners at No. 2. Annie DeLuca and Jennie Spielman rallied from a deficit in their match at No. 3 to earn an 8-6 win over Olivia Rivas and Anastasia Bennett.

In singles play, Luger picked up a 6-3, 6-1 win over Lee at the third position and Eddy was victorious 6-2, 6-3 over Bennett at No. 4. Smith continued her climb to 50 career singles victories with a 4-6, 6-2, 10-3 win at No. 5 over Rivas. The win was Smith's 46th of her career in singles play.

The margin was capped with Spielman taking a 6-4, 6-3 win over Camille Wilson at the No. 6 spot.

Covenant will host Wesleyan in a USA South contest on Saturday at noon on Lookout Mountain. The Lady Scots then will play Berry around 5:30 p.m. at home.
