Ted Steed
Theo “Ted” Scroggin Steed, 83, of Chattanooga, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2017.
Ted was born on Nov. 13, 1933, in Rome, Ga., and grew up in Centre, Al. After graduation from Centre High School, he attended Jacksonville State College graduating with a degree in Biology and Chemistry. After a stint in the U.S. Army serving in Germany, he returned stateside and moved to Marietta, Ga. He moved to Chattanooga in 1964 to work for GAF/Polysar and retired from BASF in 2001.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Steed; parents, Theo and Louise Steed; and brothers, Tom and Lane Steed.
Surviving are his wife, Iva Steed; son, Bill Steed; daughters, Carol Steed, Brooke (Jason) Miller, and Kelly Meeks; grandson, Patton Meeks; granddaughter, Savanna Miller; and sisters, Loraine (Jack) Frady and Sara Bowen; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-noon on Monday, March 27, at Tyner United Methodist Church, 6805 Standifer Gap Road, Chattanooga, Tn. 37421.
Funeral services will follow at noon at the church with Reverend Charles C. Harrison, Sr. officiating.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. on Monday, March 27, at Powder Springs Memorial Gardens in Powder Springs, Ga.
Memorial donations may be made to Tyner United Methodist Church, Hospice of Chattanooga, or the donor’s favorite charity.
