University of Tennessee Extension Agent June Puett encourages the public to vote for their favorite piggy bank during Tennessee Saves Week
Local businesses and nonprofits are celebrating Tennessee Saves Week March 25-31 by making a pledge to take steps toward a more secure financial future. University of Tennessee Extension Agent June Puett is leading a campaign to encourage people of all ages and incomes to set financial goals during this time.
“More than 33,000 area people have taken take steps toward making sound financial decisions.” says Ms. Puett. A goal of Tennessee Saves Week is to illustrate how easy and fun saving money can be.
Ms. Puett shares some of these suggestions:
Take the Tennessee Saves Pledge at www.tnsaveschatt.org. Choose to receive free emails or texts with motivational savings tips.
Vote for a favorite Pigs on Parade piggy banks decorated by 29 businesses, nonprofit and educational organizations in order to promote financial literacy. The public can vote by visiting the Tennessee Saves Facebook page at www.facebook.com/TennesseeSavesChattanoogaChapter. Click on “photos”, “see all”, then “albums.” Click on the two categories: 2017 Business and 2017 Nonprofit. Vote by opening the individual photo(s) and “like” favorite(s). Vote by March 29 at 3 p.m.
Visit the free Chattanooga Chamber Expo at the Convention Center on March 29 to learn to shop local and save. Stop by the Tennessee Saves booth #421 and vote for favorite piggy banks from 10-11:30 a.m. and 1-3 p.m.
Tennessee Saves is affiliated with the national America Saves campaign and University of Tennessee Extension. The purpose to promote and provide financial education for youth and adults.
