Congratulations To The Design Studio

Wednesday, March 15, 2017

Congratulations to Eric Myers as head of the resumed Design Studio storefront operation. However, I was surprised to read in the published announcement that the design studio had ceased operations in 2005.

I distinctly recall that the Design Studio continued to operate throughout my eight years as mayor (2005-2013) as it had in earlier administrations - advising development plans, conducting studies and hosting design competitions such as the high profile contest between college architecture students that resulted in the innovative bridge at the LEED Certified Volkswagen site.

In fact, the studio was located on the third floor of the Development Resource Center as it had been prior to my time in office and never missed beat.

Still, I applaud the return of the Design Studio to a street level storefront location that can offer improved public access and visibility.
