  • Saturday, February 25, 2017

Mary Margaret Fletcher, 92, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2017, at Pruitt Health Care Center in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia.

Mary was born April 6, 1924, in Hickman County, TN, the sixth child of the late Sam and Linnie Chaney.  She worked for Oakridge National Labratories and Bell Telephone, before marring Glenn Wesley Fletcher  in the 1950’s and moving to northwest Georgia.  She became an excellent cook and gardener.  Her roast beef Sunday dinners with fresh garden vegetables were great.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, an infant daughter, her parents, and her brothers and a sister.

She was a member of the Pleasant Grove Church of Christ.

Survivors include her son, Don Fletcher and his wife, Gray Fletcher, grandson, Wes Fletcher, and nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 26, at the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Hugh Glaze officiating. Burial will follow at West Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Fletcher will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends on Sunday, from 1 p.m. until the service hour.

She was very happy when someone did something nice for her.  In lieu of flowers, do something nice for someone you love, a cause that you believe in, or even a complete stranger. It would make her happy.
