Hitt, Charles Wallace (Trenton)

Charles Wallace Hitt, 90, of Trenton, Georgia, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2017.

He was born and raised in Rising Fawn, GA and proudly served in 3 branches of the United States Military. He enlisted in the US Navy at 18 and served on the USS Kidd in World War II. After the war he enlisted in the US Army Air Corps and retired from the US Air Force after more than 20 years of service to his country. He was a 57 year member of the American Legion and a member of Trenton United Methodist Church. His children and grandchildren will always remember him every time the Atlanta Braves play, win or lose.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Olia Hitt, sister Elizabeth Varnell; brother Robert Hitt; and son Ted Hitt.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Bea Hitt; daughter Sue Burnett; son Steve Hitt (wife Angela); daughter-in-law Thetis Hitt (widow of Ted); 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday February 19, in the chapel with Rev. Reese Fauscett and Rev. Eddie Cantrell officiating.

Family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Saturday and 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the Ryan Funeral Home, Trenton, who has charge of the arrangements.
